Apparently (apparently), there was a deal worked out between Montreal and LA for Pacioretty. Pacioretty was to sign an extension and apparently (apparently) Muzzin and Anderson-Dolan were coming back the other way. Now the exact same day Kovalchuk signed with LA (June 23rd) Pacioretty coincidentally fired his agent. So all the speculation has been that the trade was a done deal (and this is also what Walsh is saying)Always take the high road T-Shirt but LA and Pacioretty couldn’t come to terms on an extension, so it fell through and they signed the higher risk, but much cheaper Kovalchuk instead.

The details are all just from “sources” but I do believe that something was going on between the two teams but didn’t work out. There’s a lot of bullshit, and nothing is confirmed but we have been trying to trade Pacioretty since at least the deadline. Wasn’t there another factor in firing his agent having to do with that agent representing another player? I think I heard that on the radio. Not sure if it was Kovalchuk, or someone else who signed in a place Pacioretty was looking to go Someone said he Always take the high road T-Shirt was also representing Kovalchuk and then when Kovalchuk signed with LA he fired him because he was favouring one side over the other but when I googled it the agent names weren’t the same so I dunno.
